Trips to the airport can reveal some very interesting or unusual visitors. This portfolio will highlight a variety of aircraft that I have run across that you would not find everyday at your local airport.

McDonnell Douglas T-45C Goshawk & Boeing-Stearman PT-17

Thanks to a heads-up call from a friend, I was aware of a US Navy McDonnell Douglas T-45C Goshawk was heading towards Tri-Cities Airport. Luckily, I just happened to be in Blountville, TN which is in the Final Approach flight path to Tri-Cities Airport. I was able to run out into an area with a clear sky view in time to catch the Goshawk passing overhead.

I then ran over to the airport to get ground shots of the Goshawk. While I was there, I watched the crew grab their travel bags and depart for the evening.

Shortly after, a Stearman PT-17 biplane landed and parked next to the Goshawk. Giving me the opportunity to photograph two military trainers together that were 54 years apart in age.
