Neptune Aviation Services Aerial Firefighting Aircraft at TRI - 2016

A spate of forest fires in the East Tennessee/Southwest Virginia region brought Neptune Aviation Services aerial firefighting aircraft to Tri-Cities Airport in November 2016 to help battle the fires. The aircraft were based at TRI and spent several days at the airport. Aircraft attending included two British Aerospace BAe 146 airtankers, two Canadair CL-415 SuperScooper (twin-turboprop) and a Raytheon Aircraft Company C90A lead plane. A USAF T-38B Talon from the 71st Fighter Training Squadron (71 FTS) know as the IRONMEN made an appearance one day at TRI while the airtankers were in residence.

No apparent movement today for a pair of Canadair CL-415 SuperScooper (twin-turboprop) parked at Tri-Cities Airport. Newly arrived this day is a Neptune Aviation Services BAe-146 air tanker, Raytheon Aircraft Company C90A lead aircraft and a USAF T-38B Talon from the 71st Fighter Training Squadron (71 FTS) at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia.
