Glacier Girl - P-38 Lightning

The recovery and restoration of the P-38 Lightning, known as Glacier Girl, is in my opinion one of the greatest Warbird restorations in history. A short history on its recovery and restoration can be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glacier_Girl . I was lucky enough to make the trip to Middlesboro, KY at least once a year during the Lightning’s ten year restoration and check on its progress. Images in this gallery are from my many visits to see Glacier Girl.

Program from the First Flight of the P-38 Lightning “Glacier Girl” event. Program has been signed by Roy Shoffner (Then current owner of “Glacier Girl”), Steve Hinton (First Flight Pilot), and Bob Cardin (Project Manager of the P-38 Restoration)
