Pharaohs of Southwest Virginia Wheels ‘n Wings Nationals 2024 Car Show
The Pharaohs of Southwest Virginia Car Club hosted their Pharaohs Wheels ‘n Wings Nationals 2024 Car Show at Virginia Highlands Airport (VJI). Being a car club, the members of the club showed up with over 100 cars in attendance. The “Wings” portion of the show was less well attended with only a few civilian planes and a Virginia State Police Bell 407 helicopter on display. This aircraft was involved in a gear up landing at Oshkosh in 2019. Apparently the nose gear didn't extend properly. With minimal damage to the nose, the nose gear was extended and the plane taxied away. 19Oct24

Treeline Helicopters
In the middle of the event, there was an announcement that tree trimming helicopters would be arriving at the airport soon. And show up they did. Three MD-500 helicopters soon arrived with one of them carrying the hanging saw blades. Once the helicopters landed, crowds soon formed around the helicopters and people got an up close and detailed view of their equipment.
