Brunswick Golden Isles Airport, Georgia (BQK)
The trip home from Amelia Island, FL, offered up the opportunity to stop by the Brunswick Golden Isles Airport, Georgia (BQK) to see John Travolta’s Boeing 707-138 in Qantas livery parked at Stambaugh Aviation. Travolta’s 707 was parked amid a group of other world weary Boeing 707 and 727 jets awaiting their fate.

As I was driving into the airport looking for the entrance to Stambaugh Aviation, I ran across this F-104 Starfighter gate guard at the Brunswick Air Guard Station. 06Aug22

A return trip to Florida for a family vacation afforded me the opportunity to make another stop by Stambaugh Aviation at the Brunswick Golden Isles Airport and check out the status of the assembled aircraft there on the ramp. Several of the aircraft had been moved, including John Travolta’s Quantas livery 707. However, it does not look like much has changed to the status of the aircraft assembled there. A steady rain was falling during my visit, which you can see in some of the photos.

I arrived at the Brunswick Air Guard Station just outside the Brunswick Golden Isles Airport just as steady rain began to fall. Undeterred, I jumped out of the car and snapped off a few shots of the F-104 Starfighter gate guard as I quickly became soaked. 22Jun24
The ramp at Stambaugh Aviation. Full of old 707 and 727 jets. 22Jun24
I can see the arrangement of aircraft on the ramp has changed since my last visit. John Travolta's Qantas livery 707 is now completely obscured except for its tail. 22Jun24
Peter Nygard’s 1982 727-200 Super 27 (N908JE) is now partially obscured. 22Jun24

This Omega Tanker (N624RH) is a 1968 BOEING 707-338C owned by OMEGA AIR INC. Note that it is missing the horizontal stabilizers on its tail. 22Jun24
